Juanda Airport Provides Mecca Route Service for Hajj 2026
Sidoarjo (ANTARA) - Juanda International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, is providing the Mecca Route service to facilitate document checks for prospective Hajj pilgrims (JCH) by Saudi authorities during the 2026 Hajj season.
General Manager of Juanda International Airport, Muhammad Tohir, stated that the service is a fast-track facility conducted at the departure airport.
“Mecca Route utilises the waiting area at gates 13-15 in Terminal 1 as a fast-track service area by the Saudi Government,” said Tohir in Sidoarjo, East Java, on Wednesday.
He explained that through this service, Saudi immigration document checks are performed before departure, so upon arrival in the Holy Land, pilgrims do not need to undergo the process.
On the first day of departure, he said, 380 prospective Hajj pilgrims from the first batch of the Surabaya Embarkation from Probolinggo Regency were sent to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport, Madinah.
Those prospective Hajj pilgrims, he continued, flew on Saudia Airlines flight SV5347 at 09:30 WIB.
In addition, there will also be the second batch flying on Saudia Airlines flight SV5333 at 13:55 WIB.
“Today, there are two batches departing for the Holy Land. The total from those two batches is 760 people,” he said.
He mentioned that the Hajj embarkation process at Juanda International Airport will run until 21 May 2026, with a total of 43,623 prospective Hajj pilgrims departing in 116 batches from East Java, Bali, and East Nusa Tenggara.
In addition to the Mecca Route service, the airport authorities are also preparing various supporting facilities such as renovations to prayer rooms, construction of toilets, road access, and provision of drinking water dispensers to support smooth operations.
“As airport managers, we are preparing facilities to support the smooth implementation of Hajj and ensure all facilities operate normally,” he stated.
Not only that, they are also deploying airport security personnel or Avsec at the Hajj dormitory for security checks before heading to Juanda International Airport.
“And Airport Movement Control or AMC personnel to escort buses carrying prospective Hajj pilgrims to the airside area,” he added.
