JSX gets new commissioner

JAKARTA (JP): The general shareholder meeting of the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) appointed yesterday Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas, president of publicly listed PT Tambang Timah, their new chief commissioner to replace Fuad Bawazier, currently minister of finance.

The shareholders also decided to retain Rini M. Soewandi, finance director of PT Astra International, and Rosano Barack, vice president of the Bimantara Citra Group, on the board of commissioners.

Yesterday's meeting also approved the JSX management plan to relocate its office from the current JSX building on Jl. Sudirman to another strategic place in Jakarta to cut costs to survive the economic crisis.

The shareholders agreed that they could not pay the US$3 million 1998 rent at the current JSX building.

"We might move to another area such as Kuningan or even Serpong in Tangerang," JSX president Cyrill Noerhadi said after the meeting. (aly)
