JSX donates computers
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) donated on Friday 36 personal computers to six private and state universities in a move to facilitate the teaching-learning process during the economic crisis.
JSX president Cyril Noerhadi symbolically handed over the computers to the rectors of state-run Bandung Institute of Technology; Brawijaya University of Malang, East Java; Diponegoro University of Semarang, Central Java; and privately run Trisakti University and the National Development University -- both in Jakarta -- and the Yogyakarta-based Indonesian Islamic University.
JSX also signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Indonesia's Institute of Economy and Social Research to provide software which would enable students to learn the art of stock trading.
Minister of Education Juwono Sudarsono, who attended the ceremony, said the donation of the computers and software would help socialize stock trading in the country. (gis)
