JSLS 2026: Telkom University Jakarta Cultivates Future Leaders
To cultivate adaptable young minds amid the rapid tide of digital disruption, Telkom University Jakarta (TUJ) successfully hosted its inaugural Jakarta Student Leader Summit (JSLS) 2026. Held on Saturday, 23 May at the Stasiun Bumi Building, Daan Mogot Campus, the event attracted approximately 450 high school students from across Jakarta and Banten.
Under the theme ‘SYNC: Synchronising Art, Tech, and Leadership’, the summit served not only as a platform for character development but also as an educational collaborative space bridging creativity, AI proficiency, and future leadership values.
The ‘SYNC’ theme holds profound significance for young academics. University education is no longer merely about choosing a course, but aligning future technological talents with strong leadership capabilities. With free public registration, the high turnout demonstrated Gen-Z’s strong demand for relevant self-development opportunities.
Prof. Dr. Ratri Wahyuningtyas, S.T., M.M., TUJ’s Vice Rector for Admissions, Student Affairs, and Alumni, delivered a warm address emphasising the importance of technological adaptation balanced with strong character.
“This event aims to prepare our peers as the nation’s future leaders while cultivating strong character,” Prof. Ratri stated.
This aligns with TUJ’s commitment to equip students with a blend of technical expertise and leadership grounded in HEI values—Harmony, Excellence, Integrity.
The main session featured inspirational speakers, including Risky Danie Fahrulloh, S.AB., MBA., known as Dann Rizky. This lecturer and influencer dissected the ‘Triple Threat Leader’ concept through three key pillars:
Dann Rizky stressed that in today’s attention economy, AI literacy, honest leadership, and collaboration are far more critical than dwelling on educational background differences.
Equally inspiring, a sharing session with FOS DKI Jakarta representatives Aisya and Arsya underscored that true leadership begins with oneself through high commitment, empathy, and strong communication. They argued that great leaders must act as active-listening coaches who make swift decisions without losing their human touch.
Appreciation for wise digital-era leadership also came from formal education regulators, such as Drs. Umaryadi, M.M., Head of Institutional Affairs at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Office.
“As future leaders, students must use technology wisely—not just as consumers, but innovators who strengthen their character to be fully prepared to take over leadership roles in the future,” Drs. Umaryadi said.
Beyond theory, hundreds of participants engaged in interactive Trial Classes guided by TUJ lecturers across various programmes. Through a Hands-on Innovation approach, students applied theoretical knowledge directly.
Activities included IoT project component trials with the Telecommunications Engineering programme, illustration workshops in Visual Communication Design (DKV), no-code chatbot creation in 60 minutes with Information Technology, and social media analytics for decision-making strategies in Information Systems—all heavily attended by participants.
Outside classrooms, the Campus Innovation Expo & Market Day added interactivity, showcasing standout innovations from TUJ’s flagship programmes—Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, and Visual Communication Design—captivating students exploring future study options.
JSLS 2026 concluded with an energetic entertainment session fostering school camaraderie. The highlight was a special performance by guest star Adrian Khalif, prompting the entire audience to sing along. This concert-seminar blend was designed to create a creative, inclusive atmosphere resonating with youth.
With the successful inaugural event, Telkom University Jakarta plans to make JSLS an annual fixture. Participants are expected to return with fresh perspectives and readiness to drive innovative change in their communities.
