The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) received a monetary donation of Rp853.1 million from the Islamic Integrated School Network (JSIT), comprising Rp354 million for Palestine and Rp499.1 million for disaster survivors in Sumatra. Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid praised the JSIT community for entrusting the agency with the distribution of the donation. He assured that the funds would be delivered responsibly and targeted to those in need. “It is remarkable that JSIT has entrusted aid for Palestine, particularly Gaza, and Sumatra. Thank you to JSIT Indonesia; this is both a prayer and a responsibility we must account for,” he stated in a press release on Tuesday. Sodik highlighted that increased public concern for humanitarian issues is vital in strengthening social solidarity, especially amid ongoing global crises and disasters across various regions. Meanwhile, JSIT Chairman Ahmad Fikri expressed gratitude to Baznas for facilitating the distribution of the donation from the JSIT community. Fikri explained that the donation came from contributions by teachers, students, and parents across JSIT schools nationwide. He stated that the Rp354 million allocated for Palestine was a show of solidarity with Gaza residents enduring a humanitarian crisis. “The larger sum for Sumatra reflects the urgent needs of disaster-affected communities,” he added. According to Fikri, this donation drive is part of efforts to instil social and humanitarian values within schools, particularly among students. “Our schools teach students to care for humanity and support freedom. This is real education—not just theoretical but actionable through donations and charitable acts,” Fikri said.
