Sitting in his wheelchair, an old man (photo above) is
entertained by his loyal birds who cheerfully call him Bapak
Presiden (Mr. President) in Theater Koma's play Presiden Burung-
Burung (President of the Birds). Dancers from the Kim Bock-hee
Dance Company (photo right) perform for a Jakarta audience. The
two groups were taking part in the recent Art Summit festival,
this year's most significant performing arts event.

The Dutch musical trio Tri Braam, comprising bassist Wilbert De
Joode, drummer Michael Vatcher and pianist Michael Braam, create
a distinct atmosphere with their exposition of jazz music at the
Art Summit. Despite the presence of many reputable performing
artists at the festival, some of them received only moderate
praise from the audience.
