YOGYAKARTA: Over 100 delegations from Indonesia and foreign
countries will attend the biennial convention of International
Mosquito Spiral Manufacturer Association (IMSMA) in Yogyakarta
from Nov. 25 to Nov. 28, 2004.
Organizing Committee chairman Tata Kusnandar said Wednesday
that the delegations would represent manufacturers of mosquito
coils and raw materials, packaging companies and machine
producers from several countries, including Indonesia, China,
India, Thailand, Singapore, Nigeria, Germany, Sri Lanka, Taiwan,
Brasilia, Japan, Malaysia and Kenya
"We hold a convention every two years, and we invite experts
to speak and share their knowledge about mosquito coils and
mosquitoes, in general," Tata said.
The association will also hold a exhibition on Nov. 26 and
Nov. 27 featuring various mosquito spiral products, various
machines for producing them and the raw materials needed.
IMSMA was officially established on June 4, 1976 in Hong Kong
with the main objective of maintaining relationships between all
the members throughout the world. The association is also meant
as a forum for exchanging research on mosquito spirals as well as
ideas for new innovations on mosquito-repelling products.
Initially, it accommodated mosquito spiral producers only, but
due to strong demand, it accepted other related manufacturers
including producers of other forms of anti-mosquito agents as
passive members.
Harsono Kusnandar of Indonesia is currently chairing the
association for the period of 2003-2004. --JP
