Actor Butet Kartaredjasa (above) performs in Lidah Pingsan (A
Numb Tongue), at Utan Kayu Theater. He recently captured the
hearts of Jakarta's yuppies by making fun of bureaucrats in Raja
Rimba Jadi Pawang (King of the Jungle Becomes Tamer) along with
his brother, musician Djaduk Ferianto. Dancers enter the stage
during the Spirit of Indonesia Charity Nights, arranged by noted
choreographer Guruh Soekarnoputra and the Ministry of Tourism,
Arts and Culture in Central Jakarta (below).

Teater Koma actors play their roles in Opera Sembelit
(Constipation Opera) at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta. The August
performance featured a record of Indonesia's most recent
condition, depicting political upheavals such as an increasing
number of political clowns, the crumbling of the economy and a
decaying society (left). Dancers from Bremer Tanztheater troupe

Art Summit giving art lovers the opportunity to see the work of
