JAKARTA: The City Public Order Agency closed two entertainment venues on Thursday, bringing the total to 15 premises closed during the Islamic fasting month.
The newly shut nightspots were located in Taman Ria in Central Jakarta, and in Cilandak Town Square in South Jakarta, respectively.
The agency head Hariyanto Bajuri explained on Friday that the two places had violated the Gubernatorial Regulation No. 98/2004 on tourism, which specifies that they should not be operational during Ramadhan.
The regulations includes entertainment venues such as discotheques, spas, massage parlors and bars. -- Antara
;JP;BBN; ANPAj..r.. Driving-permits-fake JP/8/ Fake driver's license makers arrested
JAKARTA: The police have arrested five people suspected of involvement in fabricating thousands of driver's licenses.
Soekarno-Hatta airport police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Tejo Subagio said that the suspects were also involved in similar crimes in many towns outside Jakarta, saying that they had a special printing machine to make licenses.
"Actually, we arrested them during an operation to crack down on gangsters in Tangerang. We were suspicious because they were able to only show us a driver's license instead of identity cards," Tejo was quoted by Antara as saying over the weekend.
The police found out that the driver's licenses were fake, shortly afterward, however.
The suspects told the police that each fake license was sold for between Rp 1 million (some US$100) and Rp 1.5 million. -- JP
