HARD WORK, LOW INCOME: Two women carry large baskets of fruit on
their heads at the Petekan Market in Surabaya, East Java. They
are paid Rp 1,000 (US$11 cents) to carry one basket from the
market to the street, 500 meters away. The laborers said on
Friday they earn Rp 20,000 per day.
