RI urges stop to
West Bank wall
JAKARTA: Indonesia has urged the United Nations Security
Council and its General Assembly to take measures against
Israel's construction of a wall in the West Bank, in the case
that the Jewish state ignored the International Court of Justice
(ICJ) decision.
Indonesian Permanent Representative to the UN Rezlan Ishar
Jenie made the statement during the UN's 10th emergency session
on Friday in New York, which included discussion on Israel's
construction of the wall in Palestinian territory and the ICJ's
decision on the issue.
The ICJ recently ruled that the construction was against the
law and thus must be halted.
Israel has so far defied the ICJ verdict and has continued
building the wall.
"Now, almost all the world knows that the construction is
illegal," Rezlan said. -- Antara
