Magelang, VIVA – Employment opportunities are often difficult to obtain for people with disabilities. Various limitations, stigma, and unfriendly job requirements force many of them to struggle harder just to earn a decent living.

However, hope has arrived at Pabrik Rokok HS. At this company located in Muntilan, Magelang, Central Java, people with disabilities are not only accepted to work but are also embraced as an important part of the company without burdensome conditions.

Tika (35), one of the disabled employees from Temanggung, truly feels the change in her life since working at the factory. Previously, she admitted to applying for jobs multiple times but always failing midway.

“It was very difficult to find work before. I applied to many places, but always failed,” said Tika.

However, Tika was overjoyed when she heard that Pabrik Rokok HS was opening job vacancies specifically for people with disabilities. Without many complicated requirements, Tika was finally accepted and began to reorganise her life.

Day to day, Tika works as a cigarette roller at the company. She is not alone; there are many other disabled colleagues working at Pabrik Rokok HS. In total, there are currently 21 disabled employees working there.

“Here, I feel valued. Not differentiated. Everyone is treated the same,” she said with shining eyes.

Not only providing jobs, Rokok HS will also provide mess facilities or free accommodation for employees specifically for people with disabilities. This facility is very helpful, especially for workers from outside the area or those with mobility limitations.

“I hope HS becomes even more prosperous so that more disabled friends can be accepted to work. Thank you for the opportunity and all the facilities in the form of mess provided to us,” said another disabled employee, Tenyria Swastika (35).

Meanwhile, the boss of Rokok HS and CEO of Surya Group Holding Company, Muhammad Suryo, emphasised that his side will continue to open job vacancies for people with disabilities. They will be accepted without any conditions and without experience.

“I will accept people with disabilities in any number. Even if they have no experience, we will accept them,” he said.
