The Brigade Joxzin civil society organisation (Ormas) has demanded that Bantul Police immediately arrest the murderer of Kitin Yoga Tama Rustamaji, also known as YTR (36). The Joxzin member was killed brutally in his home in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul, last Wednesday.

“We, the extended family of Brigade Joxzin, urge Bantul Police to act immediately and arrest the perpetrator of our member’s murder in Sedayu,” said Mohamad Novweni, a member of Brigade Joxzin’s Legal and Human Rights Team, when contacted on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Novweni also set a deadline for the arrest of the murderer. “Our demand to Bantul Police regarding the arrest of the murder perpetrator is within 48 hours, counted from when we submitted our letter this morning,” he said.

Novweni also called for the murderer to face severe punishment. “Our hope is that once arrested, the perpetrator receives the harshest possible sentence, because not only did they take a life, they also wounded the victim’s wife and caused trauma to the deceased’s child,” he said.

Slashed While Sleeping With Child and Wife

A man was previously reported killed after becoming the victim of an attack using a machete at a house in the Kaliurang area of Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The assault took place inside the home whilst the victim slept with his wife and child on Wednesday, 25 February.

Two perpetrators wearing face coverings immediately attacked the victim. After slashing YTR, the perpetrators immediately left the house. The victim’s wife suffered injuries whilst trying to block the perpetrator’s attack. Meanwhile, YTR’s five-year-old child escaped unharmed in the incident.

Joxzin Member Since 2019

It was later revealed that Kitin Yoga Tama Rustamaji, or YTR (36), had long been a member of the Brigade Joxzin civil society organisation.

“The victim was indeed a member of Joxzin,” said Mohamad Novweni, a member of Brigade Joxzin’s Legal and Human Rights Team, to reporters at Bantul Police Station on Friday, 22 February.

Novweni revealed the victim had been a member of Brigade Joxzin for over five years. The victim held a Brigade Joxzin membership card (KTA).

“Since 2019, they have held a Joxzin membership card,” he said.

Today, Novweni and a delegation from Brigade Joxzin visited Bantul Police Station. They hoped the murder case involving their colleague would be quickly solved.

The delegation arrived wearing black clothing with green Joxzin lettering. Representatives of the delegation were then received by the Bantul Police Chief for an audience.

“Friends, today we are submitting an open letter to the Police Chief. The Police Station also reported the efforts already undertaken by the Police working with the Regional Police, as this case has received attention for resolution to enable faster clarification, like that,” said Novweni to reporters at Bantul Police Station.

Novweni stated that in the open letter, Brigade Joxzin hopes the case is solved quickly to anticipate unrest in the field. Many of his colleagues also feel angry about the incident.

Brigade Joxzin also strongly condemned the cowardly actions of the perpetrator who attacked with a sharp weapon whilst the victim slept with his child and wife.

Regarding the motive for the victim’s murder, Novweni admitted he did not yet know it. However, Novweni suspected there was an old grudge that motivated the murder.

“The Police Station also reported that there were no missing items. So we suspect the incident occurred because of an element of long-standing grudge,” he said.
