Joxzin Claims Previous Friction Between Murder Suspect and Slain Member
Brigade Joxzin suspects that the murder of one of its members in Bantul was motivated by vengeance, as there had been prior friction between the suspect and the victim.
“We don’t yet know the motive for certain, but our members still suspect there’s an element of vengeance,” said Mohamad Novweni, a member of Joxzin’s Legal and Human Rights Team, when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
According to Novweni, the suspicion stems from the fact that the suspect and victim had previously quarrelled. He therefore believed the murder’s background was rooted in personal vengeance rather than other factors.
“From our members’ perspective, who also knew the victim, it appears to be personal vengeance because there had been previous friction between them,” he said.
Regardless, Novweni expressed hope that the suspect, identified as SS, would receive punishment befitting his actions. Joxzin has also handed over all case handling to Bantul Police.
“From Joxzin’s perspective, we request that the suspect be punished according to his actions,” he stated.
A previous report indicated that the brutal murder of KYR (36), a resident of Sedayu, Bantul, occurred on Wednesday, 25 February. The victim was sleeping at home with his wife and child when the suspect suddenly forced his way into the house and attacked the victim with a sharp weapon. The victim, who sustained severe injuries, subsequently died.
Police have apprehended the suspect. However, police have not yet been able to provide complete information regarding the murder’s motive. Currently, police continue to interrogate the suspect whilst investigating the possibility of additional perpetrators.
“The suspect was upset and felt insulted by something the victim said,” said Iptu Rita Hidayanto, Head of Public Relations at Bantul Police, when contacted by detikJogja on Friday, 6 March 2026.
Rita noted that suspect SS (29) and victim KYR (36) had previously known each other.
“They both knew each other; they were acquainted,” she stated.
