Journos quarrel for Japanese FM

JAKARTA: Two Japanese TV cameramen almost got into a fight when they were covering the arrival of Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi at the J.W. Marriot Hotel in Jakarta on Thursday.

The incident occurred when the two cameramen were jostling to get a good shot of the minister, who was tightly guarded by hotel security staff.

One cameraman shouted, while showing his fist.

Fortunately, soon after the minister entered the elevator, the other Japanese reporters and security staff calmed them down.

Kawaguchi met her North Korean counterpart Paek Nam-sun on the sidelines of the Asia's top security forum in Jakarta.

Another Japanese reporter then shouted 'hey..man, came on.. we are now in Jakarta, not in Japan.

The other said, "We are stupid ... why don't we organize ourselves to cover this event."

At least fifty media workers - reporters and cameramen - surrounded the minister from the hotel lobby to the lift. She, however, did not speak to anyone. -- JP
