Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Editors Forum (Forum Pemred) is campaigning for quality journalism and press independence through a running event titled “Run for Good Journalism”, scheduled to take place in Jakarta on 18 October 2026.

Forum Pemred chair Retno Pinasti said in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday that sustaining media organisations today requires strong stamina and consistency, much like the philosophy of running.

The event, themed “The Press for the Public”, will also address declining public trust in the media amid waves of disinformation and opinion-driven narratives around issues.

She said she hoped the event would demonstrate the collective commitment of Indonesian press professionals to continue safeguarding journalistic work grounded in integrity.

Run for Good Journalism 2026 committee chair Masirom added that 500 people were expected to take part, including editors of national media outlets, press communities and members of the public.

As a prelude to the event, Forum Pemred has held Road to FP Run in Jakarta. The programme included a community run, informal discussions about the media, games and information about the event.

During Road to FP Run, Forum Pemred also sought public views and feedback on the Indonesian press.

The running event was also held in 2025.

The Indonesian Editors Forum (Forum Pemred) brings together editors from national print, electronic and online media outlets across Indonesia. It is committed to improving the quality of Indonesian journalism, safeguarding press freedom and serving the public interest by providing accurate and responsible information.
