Associated Press, Amman
Jordan and Indonesia plan to boost investments in economic
cooperation in the field of energy and joint ventures, state-run
Petra News Agency said Monday.
Jordan's official news agency said that Indonesian Minister of
Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro concluded three-
day talks with his Jordanian counterpart Mohammad Batayneh in
Amman Monday.
They preliminarily agreed to cooperate in oil, electricity,
gas and mineral resources projects. The two countries also are to
study prospects for Indonesian participation in the development
of the Risheh gas field near the Jordanian eastern border with
neighboring Iraq.
The Indonesian minister affirmed his country's desire to
benefit from Jordan's geographic location as a center for
marketing all types of Indonesian energy products to Europe and
Middle East countries, Petra said.
Jordan's state-run National Petroleum Company, which has had a
concession agreement since 1996 to explore and produce gas in the
Risheh area, plans to conclude a four-year contract with Golden
Spike of Indonesia to develop the Risheh gas field to upgrade its
production to 150 million cubic feet daily in four years, Petra
said.
