Joop Ave appoints new director general
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications Joop Ave installed here yesterday Sasmito Dirdjo and Maj. Gen. Djoko Pramono as the ministry's Director General and Inspectorate General, respectively.
Dirdjo replaced Djakaria Purawidjaja while Pramono replaced Oentoeng Sarwono. The two outgoing officials have retired.
Joop also swore in yesterday a number of officials to new positions after an executive reshuffle at his office and offices of state-owned enterprises supervised by the ministry.
The minister appointed Acep Hidayat as head of the ministry's education and training division; Mardany as chairwoman of the Tourism Institute in Bali; and Bagus Panuntun Waginan Sigiarso as president of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur dan Prambanan.
Azhari Abdullah and Jodi Sulistioadi Soesilo were assigned respectively as secretary to the ministry's inspectorate general and director of tourism international marketing.
Djamhari Sirat was appointed to Joop's staff of experts while Sambudo Parikesit became director of tourism service affairs.
Joop said at his office yesterday that seven state-owned companies under his supervision had booked Rp 2.29 trillion in profits this year.
He said PT Indosat and PT Telkom, which are partly owned by the public, had booked profits of Rp 1.6 trillion and Rp 609.2 billion, respectively, by the third quarter this year.
PT Pos Indonesia's profit was Rp 80.17 billion, up from Rp 72.67 billion in 1996; while PT Bali Tourism Development Corporation made Rp 10.72 billion, up from 6.84 billion in 1996, he said.
Hotel operator PT HII is the only firm to book a loss -- of Rp 5.55 billion in 1997 -- down from Rp 6.1 billion in 1996.
Natour, another hotel operator, made a Rp 502 million profit this year, down from Rp 884 million last year. (icn)
