A resident of Jombang Regency was found dead floating in the Kedung Bocok River in Kedung Bocok Village, Tarik District, Sidoarjo Regency, on Friday (21/8). When discovered, the victim’s body showed bruising to the face.

The victim was identified as Mochammad Faridzahan Dryan, a resident of Winotawar Street, Menturus Village, Kudu District, Jombang. In addition to recovering the body, police secured a Honda Vario motorcycle with registration number N 6893 CAY near the scene, which is strongly believed to belong to the victim.

An eyewitness at the location, Slamet, 30, said the discovery of the body first drew a crowd of residents. He was passing towards Rolak when he saw people gathering on the riverbank.

“I saw many residents gathering on the riverbank. After checking, there was a person floating on his back with visible bruising on his face,” Slamet said while giving his account at the scene.

Tarik Police Criminal Investigation Unit head, Ipda Rudy AQR, confirmed the report of the body’s discovery. Police immediately went to the location to process the crime scene and evacuate the victim.

“The body was found lying on its back along with a Honda Vario motorcycle. The victim has now been evacuated to Bhayangkara Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death,” Ipda Rudy explained.

Tarik Police are continuing their investigation in coordination with local village officials. Police are also questioning a number of witnesses to trace the cause of death and the origin of the bruising found on the face of the man from Jombang.
