Jombang Regency imposes sanctions on civil servants late for work
Jombang (ANTARA) - The Jombang Regency Government, East Java, has imposed firm sanctions on civil servants (ASN) who were late for work on the first day after the long Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday and collective leave. “There will definitely be sanctions, because there was a long holiday before and after Eid 2026. So today, 100% attendance is mandatory,” he said in Jombang on Wednesday. He added that relevant agencies are also compiling data on ASN who did not report for work or were late on the first day after Eid al-Fitr 2026. They will be asked for explanations, followed by examinations, and sanctions will be applied if regulations are violated. However, when asked about the number of ASN who did not report, the Jombang Regency Government is still awaiting official data from all regional apparatus organisations (OPD) regarding that information. According to civil service regulations, ASN who extend their leave without official reasons face administrative sanctions ranging from written warnings to deductions in additional employee income (TPP). Meanwhile, during the morning assembly on the first day of work in Jombang Regency, several ASN were nearly late for the field assembly at the Regency Government office. They were seen running as the assembly was about to begin. Some ASN who arrived late were even not allowed to join the assembly by the guards at the gate. They were held at the front and had to wait until the assembly ended. Additionally, during the ongoing assembly, some ASN were playing on their mobile phones while the event was taking place. Ironically, this was observed even as the regional head was giving directions on the first day of work after the Eid 2026 holiday. There were also ASN who fainted during the first-day assembly and were taken to the medical team’s tent for treatment. They felt weak and collapsed during the activity. Some were pregnant and could not stand during the event.
