Jokowi’s Volunteers Proudly Embrace ‘Termul’ Label

General Secretary of Projo, Freddy Alex Damanik, stated that volunteers for Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), are proud to be labelled as the ‘Termul’ group.

The term ‘Termul’ is an abbreviation for Ternak Mulyono, a social media jibe aimed at Jokowi’s supporters.

“‘Termul-termul’ are proud to be called Termul. Brother, do you believe it? As for me, I’m proud to be called an Indonesian who supports ideas. Well, that’s me. If the ideas fit, the vision fits, I support them. Not the person I’m supporting. Well, I’m proud of that,” said Freddy on CNN Indonesia TV on Wednesday (22/4) night.

This Termul polemic has resurfaced after being mentioned by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), who was angry about being dragged into the Jokowi diploma case.

Freddy assured that organic volunteers were in no way involved in attacking JK after reporting Rismon Sianipar over a video that called him the financier of the Jokowi diploma case.

“What annoyance was done by Mr Jokowi’s volunteers? None. No Jokowi volunteers were involved in that. That statement from brother Roy was modified in AI form,” he said.

“Jokowi’s consolidated volunteers from the past have never done anything to Mr JK. So the volunteers did not attack Mr JK,” he added.

Regarding JK’s remark also calling for proof of Jokowi’s diploma authenticity in that moment, Freddy reminded that the education document polemic has already been processed by law enforcement authorities.

“Then Mr JK’s statement came out at Bareskrim saying just show Jokowi’s diploma. Meanwhile, this has become a legal matter already reported as a complaint offence by Mr Jokowi at Polda Metro Jaya. The diploma is the object, and the diploma is now being handled at Polda Metro Jaya,” he said.

Previously, JK suspected that the report against him over the religious defamation issue was triggered after he spoke about the fake Jokowi diploma issue. However, he believes that Jokowi has an authentic diploma as a UGM graduate.

According to JK, the police report against him was also triggered because he reported Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar for allegedly spreading hoaxes and false news related to Jokowi’s diploma. Rismon has now reversed his stance after initially accusing Jokowi of a fake diploma.

“I don’t accuse it of being political, but this is the reality that it arose after I complained about Rismon and secondly I said that for two years the people have been in conflict, opposing, reporting each other, shouting and demonstrating. Enough, Mr Jokowi. Just show the diploma. That’s all,” said JK.

JK vented his frustration with the Termuls [abbreviation for Ternak Mulyono]. JK reminded that he was one of those who brought Jokowi to Jakarta from Solo to win the DKI Jakarta governor seat in 2012.

“What more do I lack, try? I brought him to Jakarta,” said JK.

“Tell all those Termuls that Jokowi became President because of me. Without the Governor, how could he become President?”
