PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Central Board Chair Puan Maharani has responded to the series of political safaris recently conducted by Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) alongside the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in several regions. Puan asserted that conducting political visits is a constitutional right inherent to every Indonesian citizen. Nonetheless, the Speaker of the House of Representatives offered an important note regarding the timing of these political tours. She urged all national figures and political elites to exercise restraint from actions that could potentially trigger political ripples, given the current global geopolitical and economic uncertainty. “A political safari is the right of all citizens to visit anywhere. However, in the current uncertain global situation, it would be better if we could all maintain a conducive situation,” Puan said at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Puan stressed that stability is the main key for Indonesia to face various global challenges. Therefore, she requested that any mass mobilisation or party consolidation at the regional level continue to prioritise messages of peace. According to Puan, a calm political climate is what society and economic actors need most at this time. “It means just keep it cool,” she continued. Previously, Jokowi began his political safari in Lampung Province on Friday, 26 June 2026, and immediately visited various areas, including Central Lampung to attend an MSME Festival. During the three-day visit, Jokowi was seen wearing a white shirt and a cap bearing the PSI logo, and was accompanied by party officials.
