Jokowi's Name Chanted During Installation of PSI Central Papua Regional Board Officials

Nabire, VIVA – Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep installed the officials of the Central Papua Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of PSI during the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) held in Nabire on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

The installation ceremony was lively, attended by PSI cadres from various districts in Central Papua. The atmosphere became even more vibrant when the name of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was mentioned several times during the event.

In his speech, Kaesang appreciated the spirit of the cadres who attended despite facing limitations in transportation access to Nabire.

“Many cadres still wanted to come to Nabire, but due to inadequate access and ticket availability, not everyone could attend. However, the spirit present today must be spread throughout Central Papua,” said Kaesang.

Jokowi’s youngest son also mentioned the figure of the Chairman of the PSI Central Papua DPW, Isaias Douw, who is said to have great enthusiasm for building PSI in the Central Papua region.

In fact, Kaesang revealed that Isaias’s appointment received direct attention from Jokowi. That statement was immediately met with applause from the attending cadres.

“Usually, the recommendation for the chairman goes through Mr Beny. For Mr Isaias, it came directly from Mr Jokowi himself,” he said.

Not only installing the new officials, Kaesang also set a big target for PSI cadres in Central Papua ahead of the 2029 General Elections. He hopes that PSI can become the main political force in the region.

“I ask that in 2029 we become the winners here,” he stated.

An interesting moment occurred when Isaias Douw, Chairman of the PSI Central Papua DPW, delivered a political speech in front of the cadres. While waving the PSI flag, Isaias referred to himself as the “Jokowi of Central Papua”.

“I am the Jokowi of Central Papua,” said Isaias Douw.

According to Isaias, development in Central Papua today is inseparable from the central government’s attention during Jokowi’s leadership era. He mentioned the construction of hospitals to public facilities, which he said are tangible evidence of the government’s attention to Papua.

He also called on all PSI cadres to strengthen political consolidation ahead of the 2029 General Elections and target victories at various legislative levels.
