Jokowi's Message for This Year's Eid: Patience and Forgiveness

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), expressed the meaning of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H for him personally. He conveyed this after performing Eid prayers at Al-Bina Grand Mosque, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), alongside his wife Iriana and his youngest son, who is also the General Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party, Kaesang Pangarep, on Saturday (21/3). “Patience,” said Jokowi when responding to a question from the media regarding the meaning of this year’s Eid. Jokowi then uttered the word “forgiveness,” which also represents the meaning of Eid al-Fitr for him this year. However, Jokowi did not elaborate further on these two meanings. “Forgiveness,” Jokowi stated briefly. On that occasion, Jokowi also mentioned that he would celebrate Eid in Jakarta. He said he would only return to Solo, Central Java, the following day. “Tomorrow (returning to Solo), yes, today (Eid in Jakarta),” he said.
