President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), and his wife, Iriana, performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in 2026 at the Al-Bina Grand Mosque in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Jakarta. After the prayers, Jokowi stated that he interprets this year’s Lebaran with patience.

“Patience,” said Jokowi when asked about the meaning of Eid al-Fitr this year after performing the Eid prayer on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Jokowi did not explain further regarding the patience he meant. Jokowi was then asked about his plans for Lebaran this year, and he only answered with one word: forgiveness.

“Forgiveness, that’s it,” he said briefly.

However, Jokowi again did not detail the meaning of his words. Likewise, when asked more specifically about the person he forgave, Jokowi did not respond further.

He only stated that he would celebrate Lebaran in Jakarta today and would return to Solo, Central Java, afterwards.

Despite receiving many questions from the media, Jokowi, escorted by several presidential security personnel, continued walking towards the car parked in front of the mosque area. Inside the car, his wife Iriana was visible, wearing Muslim attire in white tones.

Jokowi’s youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, was also seen at the Al-Bina Mosque. After the prayers, Jokowi and Kaesang were seen accommodating various requests for photos from residents.

Previously reported, Jokowi and Iriana celebrated Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in Jakarta. The two will be in Jakarta until 24 March.

The moment Jokowi and Iriana departed from Solo to Jakarta was uploaded on Jokowi’s Instagram account on Friday (20/3/2026). Jokowi will spend the Lebaran moment gathering with family and grandchildren in Jakarta.

“On this Eid al-Fitr moment, I, together with Mrs Iriana, departed from Solo to Jakarta to gather with family, catch up, especially with the grandchildren who always bring cheerfulness and new stories,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi also conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings to all the community who celebrate it. He hopes that the Lebaran momentum becomes an opportunity to strengthen togetherness and family ties.

“Happy Eid al-Fitr. May our journeys all be smooth, we are reunited with beloved family, and the ties that are formed are filled with warmth and joy,” he said.
