Legal counsel for the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), hopes that Roy Suryo will respect the ongoing legal process after the Metro Jaya Police announced that the case files for Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa regarding allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma are complete, meaning both will soon face trial.

“As a citizen, one should respect the ongoing legal process and face it with integrity. Especially if he believes he is in the right,” said Rivai, as quoted by Detik on Wednesday (3/6).

Rivai expressed hope that the truth regarding Jokowi’s diploma would be revealed during the trial, thereby ending the allegations of a forged diploma. “Mr Jokowi obtained it legally from UGM after successfully completing his studies. On the other hand, this is necessary to restore the reputation of Mr Jokowi as well as several institutions that have been dragged into this, such as UGM, KPU, KPUD, Kemendikti, and others,” Rivai added.

“For too long, the public has been presented with lies and hoaxes, so a legal forum is needed to correct this by presenting the truth,” he continued. Furthermore, Rivai stated that the public could obtain accurate information through the trial, noting that many lessons could be learned from the proceedings.

“Through this trial, the public can follow the evidentiary process by hearing balanced arguments. Certainly, many lessons can be drawn regarding democratic life, law enforcement, and civilised political conduct,” said Rivai.

Previously, the Metro Jaya Police stated that the case files regarding the allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma involving Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Dr Tifa, are complete (P21). Consequently, Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa will soon stand trial.

In this case involving the allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma, the Metro Jaya Police identified a total of eight suspects. The police subsequently issued orders to cease investigations (SP3) for three of the suspects. The three suspects whose investigations have been halted are Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis, and Rismon Sianipar, while the other five suspects have chosen to proceed with the case.
