Jokowi's directive behind Bara JP's support for Prabowo-Gibran for two terms

JAKARTA — Bara JP (Barisan Relawan Jokowi Presiden) chairman Willem Frans Ansanay has formally endorsed the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for two terms.

The endorsement was not spontaneous but based on a directive from seventh President Joko Widodo, reinforced during Bara JP’s Second Plenary Session held on Saturday, 23 May 2025.

“President Jokowi instructed Bara JP to support Prabowo-Gibran for two terms. We will continue to uphold this,” Frans said whilst announcing the results of the Second Plenary Session at Park Hotel Cawang in East Jakarta.

Frans clarified that Bara JP never received instructions from Jokowi to support only Gibran without Prabowo. He stated the organisation would correct various opinions contradicting this position of support.

Beyond discussing support for the Prabowo-Gibran administration, the Second Plenary Session also evaluated the organisation’s programmes over nearly a year of operations. Bara JP affirmed its continued backing of government initiatives including the Free Nutritious Meals programme (MBG), the red-and-white cooperative, and free people’s schools.

“Our position remains one of support, and we will work even more diligently to socialise the work undertaken by President Prabowo and Vice-President Gibran,” Frans stated.

Bara JP also expressed support for President Prabowo’s independent and active foreign policy amid the current global situation.

On Saturday, 15 September 2025, Jokowi conveyed the same directive to Bara JP to support President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka leading Indonesia for two terms.
