West Java Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Iwan Koswara, has welcomed the walkabout activity of Indonesia’s 7th President, Jokowi, in Lampung on Friday (26/6/2026). During the activity, Jokowi was seen wearing a cap and a white shirt bearing the PSI logo whilst interacting with the public. According to Iwan, Jokowi’s presence in PSI attire is a powerful symbol demonstrating the closeness of values and the spirit of struggle that the party has built thus far. He assessed that this move provides significant motivation for PSI cadres in various regions to continue working and being present within the community. “For us, especially cadres in the regions, Mr Jokowi’s presence wearing PSI attributes during his walkabout is a new source of energy and enthusiasm. This shows that his commitment to politics that sides with the people remains intact,” Iwan said in a statement on Friday (26/6/2026). He stated that Jokowi’s leadership style, synonymous with walkabouts and listening directly to citizens’ aspirations, shares similarities with the political approach that PSI has championed. Therefore, this momentum is seen as a reminder for cadres to continue strengthening service-oriented work for the community. Iwan assessed that Jokowi’s appearance in PSI attributes can also be interpreted as a form of trust in the party’s direction of struggle, which prioritises openness, youth involvement, and siding with the people’s interests. “This is not merely about attributes, but about the message that politics must remain close to the people. That value has been the spirit of PSI and is also reflected in Mr Jokowi’s leadership journey,” he said. According to Iwan, this momentum is believed to be able to increase the optimism of PSI cadres throughout Indonesia, including in West Java. He hopes that the spirit shown by Jokowi can be translated into real work through various social programmes, public services, and the strengthening of legislative functions that touch upon citizens’ needs. “Mr Jokowi has set an example of the importance of being present and working for the people. We will continue that spirit. PSI cadres in West Java are ready to strengthen their service to the community through concrete and impactful political work,” Iwan stated. He affirmed that PSI will continue to strive to build closeness with the community through various activities oriented towards solving citizens’ problems and strengthening public participation in development. With this spirit, he said, PSI is optimistic it can continue to expand public trust in various regions.
