Jokowi's Aide Responds to Former President's Solo Home Being Dubbed "Solo's Wailing Wall"
The private residence of former Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Solo, Central Java, has suddenly gone viral on social media in recent days. This occurred after the location of Jokowi's home appeared on Google Maps under an unusual name: "Tembok Ratapan Solo" (Solo's Wailing Wall).
The name change triggered a range of reactions from netizens and became widely discussed, including on TikTok. Observations by internet users showed that the designation had appeared and was subsequently shared in the form of screenshots and videos. Several TikTok users even visited the location simply to take photographs in front of the wall of the house, which is situated at Jalan Kutai Utara number 1, Sumber subdistrict, Banjarsari district, Solo.
Responding to the viral phenomenon of Jokowi's home being dubbed "Solo's Wailing Wall", Jokowi's aide, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, said his team was already aware of the name change that had appeared on Google Maps. "Yes, I already knew about it," he said via WhatsApp message when contacted by Tempo on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
According to Syarif, the name change was nothing out of the ordinary. He was also understanding about the public visiting Jokowi's residence after the "Tembok Ratapan Solo" label went viral on TikTok.
Following the viral spread, Syarif said many members of the public had indeed come to capture the moment. "There are always some who come. We urge people not to do the same thing, because this is the residence of Mr Joko Widodo and Mrs Iriana, not 'Solo's Wailing Wall'," he said.
Regarding security arrangements around Jokowi's residence, Syarif said there were no plans to tighten restrictions or limit visits, whether in terms of visitor numbers or duration. "There aren't any," he said.
He also reaffirmed that the general situation around the residence remained conducive. "It's all normal," said Syarif.
