Jokowi Wants PSI Structure Completed Immediately

Former President Joko Widodo today began his tour of several regions, with Lampung as his first destination. Jokowi said he would be in Lampung for three days. According to Jokowi, aside from fulfilling an invitation from the community, he is visiting Lampung to attend an event with the Indonesia Solidarity Party (PSI). On this occasion, he plans to provide motivation as well as several messages to party cadres. “Regarding PSI, I want to provide motivation, and also convey the important message that PSI’s structure must be completed immediately as a major political machine,” Jokowi said shortly before his departure to Lampung on Friday, 26 June 2026. He also said he wanted to raise the public’s political awareness. “That is also important,” Jokowi stated. When asked if he would meet PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep in Lampung, Jokowi replied, “Yes, we will meet there.” Jokowi was seen wearing a white shirt featuring an elephant logo, the symbol of PSI, upon his arrival at Adi Soemarmo Airport. He said he was ready to visit various areas in Lampung. When journalists asked about his attire, Jokowi mentioned the shirt was sent by PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep. “Yes, this was sent by the Chairman, Kaesang, so I wore it,” he said. Regarding his agenda in Lampung, Jokowi said the entire schedule had been prepared by volunteers and PSI. “The rundown has been made, both by the volunteers and PSI. It’s all set. It will be packed. Very packed,” he said. After Lampung, Jokowi is scheduled to continue his visits to East Nusa Tenggara and West Java. Previously, Sarhani, Chairman of the Regional Board of the Nusantara People’s Brigade in Lampung, said Jokowi’s visit was based on public requests. “We invited him because we received a lot of information and input from the general public that they wanted to be visited by Mr Jokowi after his retirement as president,” he said when contacted on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. He explained that the volunteer supporters then wrote to Jokowi requesting he conduct a safari in their region. Sarhani claimed the visit by the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka had no political agenda. According to him, Jokowi is visiting as an ordinary citizen. His arrival, he said, is purely for maintaining ties with Islamic clerics, scholars, community figures, cultural figures, and the general public in Lampung.
