Jokowi Urges Support for Prabowo-Gibran for Two Terms, PAN Focuses on Realising 'Asta Cita'

The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has revealed that the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), directed them to safeguard the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for two terms. Responding to this, PAN Deputy Chairman Saleh Daulay stated that his party is currently focused on supporting the Prabowo-Gibran government and realising its programmes.

‘PAN is a coalition member. In fact, it is a very loyal coalition member. It has never wavered, let alone thought of retreating. Therefore, PAN will remain with Prabowo-Gibran until the end of this term,’ Saleh told reporters on Friday (19/6/2026). ‘PAN is now working. Helping to realise the President’s Asta Cita. We are focused on that. We haven’t thought further yet,’ he continued.

However, the Chairman of House Commission VII said he would not object if other parties wished to discuss political support for the next term. According to him, such matters can be discussed at the appropriate time. ‘If anyone asks for more, please discuss it. As for PAN, God willing, we have decided to maintain our togetherness with Prabowo. What the format will be in the future, we’ll talk about it later,’ he said.

He believes what Prabowo is doing currently is on the right track. Therefore, he invited all elements of the nation to lend their support. ‘If there is criticism, please convey it in an orderly and regular manner. And of course, it is very necessary to pay attention to speech and etiquette in accordance with the Eastern customs that exist in Indonesia,’ he stated. ‘PAN does not want commotion. PAN wants calm. Everyone must be embraced. Everyone must be empowered. Let us work together. Realise a prosperous Indonesia,’ he added.

Previously, PSI DPP Chairman Bestari Barus said Jokowi had asked his party and sympathisers to safeguard the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Bestari dismissed the notion of a ‘dual sun’ following Jokowi’s plan to tour Indonesia. ‘To us, he conveyed that we are asked to safeguard Mr Prabowo-Gibran, even, even for two terms. So there is no slander about there being two suns. How can there be two suns? That’s nonsense,’ Bestari told reporters on Friday (18/6/2026).
