Jokowi Unbothered by His House Appearing in Roblox, Urges Maintaining Ethics
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the seventh President of Indonesia, has responded to the viral issue of his house becoming the ‘Solo Wailing Wall’ in the Roblox gaming application.
Jokowi’s response was conveyed by his aide, AKBP Syarif Fitriansyah, to the media in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday (8/4).
According to Syarif, Jokowi does not take issue with the matter and considers the appearance of the Solo Wailing Wall in Roblox as a form of public freedom of expression.
However, Syarif stated that Jokowi urges netizens and Roblox users to maintain ethics.
“Yes, we see it casually; it’s part of the creativity of young people in the current digital era, including in Roblox. The gentleman also does not feel disturbed,” he said.
“The important thing is to maintain ethics, so as not to spread untrue information or cause a stir,” Syarif added.
Furthermore, Syarif said that Jokowi also appreciates the creativity of netizens, including in Roblox. Previously, the location of Jokowi’s house was marked as the ‘Wailing Wall’ on the Google Maps application.
“Otherwise, the gentleman is relaxed and appreciates such creativity,” said the mid-ranking police officer.
Previously, social media went viral with screenshots from Roblox showing a replica of Jokowi’s house visited by players of the popular game. Avatars in the game were seen posing as if wailing at the wall.
In addition, some time ago, Jokowi’s residence on Jalan Kutai Utara, Sumber Ward, Banjar Sari Subdistrict, Solo, also went viral after being marked with the name ‘Solo Wailing Wall’ on Google Maps. The marker appeared directly above the location of Jokowi’s house.
Besides Google Maps, this phenomenon was reinforced by a circulating video of a young man acting as if wailing in front of the gate of the residence.
Since stepping down from the presidency in 2024, Jokowi has returned to reside in his private home in Solo. Since then, the house has never been free from queues of residents wanting to meet him. Even at his private residence, Jokowi still receives guests from friendly countries and state officials, one of whom is Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
