Jokowi to Be Announced as PSI Advisory Board Chairman

The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) is set to announce former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as Chairman of its Advisory Board. Bestari Barus, PSI’s Political Affairs Deputy Chairman, confirmed the development, stating the announcement is awaiting final decision by party chairman Kaesang Pangarep. ‘Yes, it’s true. It’s just a matter of when, and that’s up to Mas Kaesang as General Chairman; we don’t want to pre-empt his decision,’ Bestari said on Tuesday (26 May). He emphasised that Jokowi’s role was clear since the party’s July 2025 Congress in Solo, where he pledged full support. ‘At the congress, President Jokowi clearly stated, “I will fully support PSI and work hard for it,” and during our National Working Conference, he added more emphatically, “I will go all out,”’ Bestari said. ‘Why would anyone work so hard or risk everything if not for PSI?’ he added. Bestari hopes other parties will understand Jokowi’s position and expects him to publicly confirm his affiliation with the elephant-logo party. ‘We also hope President Jokowi clarifies that he is with PSI, not with any other party,’ he said. Previously, Jokowi announced his recovery and readiness to tour Indonesia, with PSI pledging to accompany him on regional visits to meet party cadres and citizens.
