Jokowi to Attend Annual Session and Joint Session on 14 August

The MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD will be held on 14 August 2026. Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is planning to attend the event.

“God willing, he will attend the Annual Session,” said Jokowi’s aide-de-camp, AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, to journalists on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

Syarif said Jokowi is also scheduled to attend the Independence Day ceremony on 17 August at the State Palace. However, Syarif has not yet disclosed what attire Jokowi will wear at the independence ceremony.

“The ceremony is at the Palace; God willing, he will attend,” he said.

It is known that the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD will be held on 14 August 2026. The session will invite former Indonesian presidents as well as chairpersons of political parties in Indonesia.

“The MPR Annual Session and the joint session of the MPR, DPR, and DPD will be held on Friday, 14 August 2026,” said MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani after a joint leadership meeting of the MPR at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (5/8).

Muzani said the Annual Session will begin at 08.30 WIB. The session is scheduled to conclude before Friday prayers.

During this session, the MPR Speaker will deliver his official address. President Prabowo Subianto will also deliver the state address.

“The main agenda is the address by the MPR Speaker, the address by the DPD Speaker, and then we will hear the state address by the President as Head of State, as well as the presentation of performance reports from state institutions,” he explained.
