Jokowi Tells Lampung Clerics and Students: I'm Still the Same as Before

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), visited the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School in Central Lampung Regency. During the occasion, he expressed that he remains the same person as he was in the past.

Jokowi’s visit took place on Sunday (28/06/2026). He stated that he was honoured by the welcome received from the people of Lampung Province during his three-day visit.

“I am very grateful to all the boarding school administrators, the students, and the community who have welcomed me so warmly,” said Jokowi.

Jokeway remarked that he is still the same as before, essentially a person from a village. He explained that his visit to Lampung was motivated by the fact that the environment there feels similar to his own background.

“I am still like I used to be. Still a village person. Still a person from the countryside. So, when I come to Lampung, when I come here, it truly is my world and my environment,” Jokowi continued.

Jokowi also revealed one of the reasons for visiting Lampung Province, noting that many residents from Lampung frequently visit his residence.

“Every Sunday, many people from Lampung come to my house in Sumber village. That is why I came here, to foster ties with the people of Lampung, all the citizens of Lampung,” he said.
