The Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has disclosed that his party holds much larger ambitions for the 2029 General Election. According to him, PSI’s target is not simply to pass the threshold for Senayan (the national parliament), but involves other objectives that he is not yet ready to reveal to the public.

“Our target is not just to enter Senayan. There is a larger target we wish to achieve, but there is no need to disclose it here,” Jokowi stated while attending the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the PSI DPD in Kupang City on Friday (3_July_2026).

The 7th President of Indonesia noted that PSI has already performed calculations to penetrate parliament in the 2029 election. He also assessed that the enthusiasm of cadres and the public, which crowded the Rakorda in Kupang, serves as vital capital for the party.

“If the Rakorda at the Kupang City level is as full as this, what is there to fear or worry about? It was the same in Lampung, with such high attendance,” he said.

Jokowi emphasised that PSI’s primary strength lies not only in legislative seat acquisitions but also in the formation of party structures down to the village level. “If we enter Senayan, but if we target what I am saying—from the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) down to the villages being formed—this is the great strength of the ‘Elephant Party’,” he asserted.

During the event, Jokowi also expressed appreciation for the increase in PSI’s seat count in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). He noted that in 2019, PSI held only 11 DPRD seats in NTT, which subsequently increased to 40 seats in the 2024 election, marking the highest achievement for PSI nationally.

“PSI NTT also has one Mayor, Dr Christian Widodo; one Regent of Sikka, Mr Juventus Primayoga; one Vice Regent of Kupang Regency, Mrs Aurum Tiku Eki; and one Vice Regent of Rote Ndao, Mrs Apremoi Dudelusy Dethan,” he detailed.

Given this development, Jokowi is confident that NTT will become a primary stronghold for PSI. “I truly believe NTT will become the ‘Elephant’s Den’. An elephant that does not just win elections, but a wise, intelligent elephant that always sides with the people—that is what we all desire,” he concluded.

Jokowi added that he can no longer calculate PSI’s potential for victory in NTT for the 2029 election if public enthusiasm remains sustained. He maintained that establishing management structures down to the village level is the key to the party’s victory.
