Jokowi Reveals Reasons for Lampung Visit: Love for the People and PSI

Former President Joko Widodo has explained his reasons for visiting Lampung Province from 26 to 28 June 2026, citing his support for the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), which is chaired by his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep. Jokowi made the remarks before PSI cadres during a regional coordination meeting in Mesuji Regency, Lampung, on Friday afternoon, 26 June 2026. He initially asked the cadres why he had come to Lampung Province. “Why did I come to Mesuji Regency? Firstly, my love for the people of Lampung has not faded; it remains. And secondly, more importantly, it is also for PSI!” Jokowi said, as monitored via the PSI Official social media YouTube channel. The statement by the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was met with loud cheers from the PSI regional coordination meeting participants. Jokowi continued that Lampung was the first province he visited as a form of appreciation because PSI Lampung had almost completed 100 percent of its party structure down to the village level. According to Jokowi, PSI structures in other regions are still around 40 to 60 percent. “I want to give my highest appreciation, respect and honour to the General Chairman, the Provincial Executive Board Chairman, the District Executive Board Chairman and all their ranks who have completed the party structure down to the village level,” he said. After completing the party structure in the villages, Jokowi advised the PSI Mesuji District Executive Board to work and bring the party to life. The method is to maintain closeness with the community in daily activities and help solve problems. “This means that you, the board members, must always be close to the community, not just when elections are approaching. For example, when there is a death, attend the takziah. When there is a tahlilan, come. When there is a yasinan, attend. When there is a wedding, come and offer congratulations. If there is any problem in Mesuji Regency, you can help assist and resolve it,” said the former Mayor of Solo. Jokowi believes PSI can win the 2029 General Election if the regional structures work optimally from now on. He encouraged PSI cadres and officials to fight for victory in the upcoming election. “We are now planting, now is the time for planting. The harvest will be in 2029,” he said. A number of areas to be visited by Jokowi include Mesuji, West Tulangbawang, Pesawaran, Bandar Lampung, East Lampung, and Lampung. After Lampung, Jokowi is scheduled to continue his political safari to East Nusa Tenggara and West Java.
