Jokowi Reveals Reasons for Choosing Lampung as First Political Safari with PSI

Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has revealed the reason for choosing Lampung as the initial location for his political safari. Jokowi stated that the visit was made as a form of appreciation for the consolidation of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in the region. He also expressed his affection for the people of Lampung. Jokowi added that the long journey to the area was deliberately undertaken because he still maintains a close relationship with the Lampung community. “Why did I come to Lampung Province? Why did I come to Mesuji Regency? Firstly, my love for the people of Lampung has not faded; it remains,” Jokowi said on Friday (26/6). He noted that the PSI Lampung ranks had completed the party’s management structure down to the village level, an achievement not yet accomplished by many other political parties. He assessed that organisational consolidation reaching nearly every village is crucial capital for PSI in building political strength in the region. “I want to give my appreciation and recognition to all PSI ranks who have completed the party structure down to the village level. I see others are still at 40 to 60 percent, while here it is already almost 100 percent,” he said. On that occasion, Jokowi also advised that the party structures which have been formed should not only be administratively complete but must truly be active in carrying out organisational functions. He urged all PSI administrators in Mesuji to remain present within the community and not only work during election moments. “After the party structure is complete down to the villages, the next task is to make that structure live and work. This means all administrators must be close to the community, not just when elections are approaching, but every day,” he asserted.
