Jokowi Reveals Reason for Newly Displaying PSI Membership Card
The 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has revealed a new reason for announcing his membership in the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
Jokowi shared this during his attendance at the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the PSI Regional Leadership Council (DPD) in Bekasi Regency. Jokowi touched upon the importance of finding the right momentum to announce his affiliation with PSI.
“Many are asking why it is only being shown now; well, it is my prerogative, as this is my card. I am showing it here in Bandung and Bekasi because the momentum is right now,” Jokowi stated via a written statement on Sunday (227/9).
He admitted that the appropriate moment occurred while meeting with cadres in Bandung and Bekasi Regency.
“Politics is all about momentum; the momentum is right, so I am showing it now,” Jokowi continued.
Jokowi also joked with cadres who might disagree with his PSI membership, jokingly offering a bicycle as a gift to anyone who opposed him.
“Who agrees that I possess this card? If anyone disagrees, step forward, and I will give you a bicycle,” Jokowi joked, which was met with laughter from the audience.
Previously, Jokowi revealed that he has officially been a member of PSI since 14 October 2025. This was disclosed during his attendance at the PSI Rakorda in Bandung on Saturday (26/9), where he displayed his PSI membership card.
