Jokowi Reveals PSI's Target Is Bigger Than Just Entering Parliament

Seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has given direction to Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) cadres during the Regional Working Meeting of the PSI Regional Representative Council for Bandar Lampung City. Jokowi stated that PSI’s target for the 2029 General Election is more than just qualifying for the national parliament.

‘I came here, and I do not want to be long-winded. The party structure must be a living and working structure. If we truly do this and implement it on the ground, our target is not a small target,’ said Jokowi, as reported on Saturday (27/6/2026).

According to him, the party’s main target is not just entering the Senayan parliament complex. However, he declined to openly disclose the magnitude of the intended target as it is an internal party strategy.

‘It is not a target of entering Senayan; entering Senayan, God willing, we will enter. I want to enter Senayan, but the figure we are targeting is not a small figure. I do not need to mention it here, this is internal, right? There are many external people also in this room. The target is a big target,’ he said.

Besides discussing electoral targets, Jokowi also reminded all PSI cadres to actively build closeness with the community. According to him, party officials must be present at various social activities so that they are better known by residents.

‘Every day we must always be close to the people, get closer to the community, get closer to the residents. If there is a death, come to offer condolences; if there is a wedding, come; if there is a tahlilan, come; if there is a yasinan, come,’ he said.
