Jokowi Reveals Chat with JK at Bhayangkara Anniversary
The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has revealed the content of his conversation with the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), during their meeting at the peak celebration of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary in Cikeas, Bogor. Jokowi stated that he only discussed light matters with Jusuf Kalla. “We just talked about light things, as usual. We were both in government as president and vice president, so it’s normal to chat about casual things,” Jokowi told reporters on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. Jokowi emphasised that the meeting with JK was ordinary. He also admitted he felt no awkwardness in meeting and speaking with JK, even though Jusuf Kalla’s name had previously been linked to a case of alleged slander regarding a fake diploma. “It was just a normal meeting within the Bhayangkara Anniversary forum. No, there was no awkwardness, it was just normal,” Jokowi explained. The peak celebration of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary at the Police Mobile Brigade Corps Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor Regency, was attended by a number of national figures. Besides President Prabowo Subianto, who acted as the ceremony inspector, the event was also attended by the 7th President Joko Widodo and the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Jokowi was seen in the VVIP stands wearing a black suit and a black cap. The presence of the former head of state drew the attention of invited guests attending the commemoration of the Bhayangkara Corps’ anniversary. In addition to Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla, several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet were also present, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani were also in attendance.
