President Joko Widodo responded casually to allegations of a leaked audio clip involving Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad during a plenary session on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. His name became a public focus after a segment of TVR Parliament’s live broadcast circulated widely on social media platform X.

In the widely circulated recording, Dasco allegedly told House Speaker Puan Maharani, seated next to him, ‘Just don’t shout “Long live Jokowi”.’ The clip triggered numerous reactions from netizens and became a subject of political discourse online.

Responding to the incident, Jokowi replied with a casual and joking tone. When asked about Dasco’s alleged remark, Jokowi instead referenced healthy living.

‘Well, if given a choice between healthy living or ‘Long live Jokowi’, I’d choose healthy living,’ Jokowi said with a smile when met by journalists upon arriving from Jakarta at his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java, on Monday, 25 May 2026.

Jokowi also dismissed suggestions that he felt offended by Dasco’s comment. When asked if he felt targeted, the former Jakarta governor simply replied, ‘It’s perfectly normal.’

The alleged leak occurred after President Prabowo Subianto concluded a two-hour speech detailing the Main Macro Economic Framework and Fiscal Policy Outline (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 Draft State Budget. In his closing remarks, Prabowo wished everyone a Happy National Awakening Day 2026.

‘Happy National Awakening Day. Let us continue the struggle of our nation’s founders. Merdeka!’ Prabowo said before members of Parliament, Cabinet ministers, and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

After finishing his speech, the Gerindra Party chairman descended from the podium and shook hands with Deputy Speakers Saan Mustopa, Dasco, Puan, and Sari Yuliati. As Prabowo walked to his seat, Dasco turned to Puan and spoke softly.

‘Just don’t shout ‘Long live Jokowi,’ Dasco said. Puan’s laughter was audible in the video clip uploaded by @tang__kira on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Tempo sent a confirmation request to Dasco, but he has yet to respond.

The ‘Long live Jokowi’ chant was previously raised by Prabowo during his speech at Gerindra’s 17th anniversary celebration at Sentul City International Convention Center on Saturday, 15 February 2025. Prabowo and his party members collectively cheered and thanked Jokowi.

In the same speech, Prabowo stated that Jokowi had assisted him extensively before his inauguration on 20 October 2024. He thanked Jokowi for his help, saying, ‘Before the handover, he kept calling me. Even for certain positions, he sought my opinion. I’m sharing this because I want the public to know the truth,’ Prabowo said.
