Jokowi: Replacement of National Police Chief is the President's Prerogative Right
The 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has responded to the replacement of the National Police Chief from General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto. Jokowi assessed that the change is the prerogative right of President Prabowo Subianto.
“That (the replacement of the Police Chief) is the prerogative authority of President Prabowo,” Jokowi told reporters at his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, on Thursday (1/10/2026).
“And it is also time, as General Listyo Sigit has served as the National Police Chief for 5 years and 8 months. I believe it is indeed time,” he added.
Regarding the figure of Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto as the new National Police Chief, Jokowi considers him to be a good individual.
“And I believe his successor, Mr. Suyudi, is quite good,” he remarked.
It was previously reported that Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto has been officially approved to become the National Police Chief, replacing General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The approval was reached during a plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) held at the Nusantara II building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026).
