Jokowi Receives Traditional Title 'Baginda Pemuka Bangsa' During Lampung Safari

On the second day of his political safari in Lampung Province, Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited Bandar Lampung, where he was bestowed a traditional title by the Lampung Pepadun community. The ceremony took place at the Kedatun Keagungan Traditional House in Bandar Lampung on Saturday morning (27/6/2026). The traditional title conferred upon Jokowi was Baginda Pemuka Bangsa. The investiture involved several stages, including a Family Council (Nuwang), the Nguruk Di Way, a sacred procession to collect holy water, and the Cakak Pepadun, a sacred ritual of ascending the throne. ‘The traditional title awarded to Ir. H. Joko Widodo is Baginda Pemuka Bangsa,’ the master of ceremonies announced. Jokowi expressed his thanks upon receiving the title and called on the people of Lampung to continue safeguarding and nurturing their culture. ‘On behalf of myself and the government, I extend my deepest gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Sekala Brak Yang Dipertuan Ke-23 and all traditional officials,’ Jokowi stated.
