Jokowi: PSI Party Structure is Useless if Only Aiming for Official Decree
The Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has emphasised that the party’s structure must not merely be a formality or created solely to obtain a Decree (SK). According to him, the party structure must be alive, working, and present amongst the community.
This assertion was made by Jokowi while attending the PSI Kupang City Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) on Saturday (1/8/2026). He stated that strengthening the structure down to the village and polling station (TPS) levels is the party’s primary task.
“That is why the Central Executive Board (DPP) is striving to ensure the party structure reaches the villages and polling stations, because the key lies there. We must remember together that the party structure must be functional, truly operational, alive, and working,” said Jokowi.
The 7th President of Indonesia reminded all PSI officials not to focus solely on forming management on paper.
“It is useless to have it if it is only a formality. It is useless to have a structure if the only goal is to obtain an SK. That is not the point; we need a functional structure, a living and working structure, an active structure in the daily lives of our people,” he asserted.
Jokowi believes that an active party structure reaching the village and polling station levels will be the key to PSI’s victory in the 2029 General Election.
“Building the party structure is the key to our victory in 2029. The key lies in building the party structure down to the villages and polling stations. The key is right there,” he emphasised.
He requested that PSI cadres be present in the lives of the community, both during times of joy and hardship.
“When the people are happy—for example, if a neighbour is getting married, attend. If a neighbour has a birthday, come. And also when our people are in difficulty. If a neighbour passes away, attend. If a neighbour is ill, visit and check on them. It must always be like that. That is what is called a functional and working structure,” he explained.
Jokowi also urged cadres to be present when the community faces disasters and to provide assistance.
“It is not enough to simply have an office with the sign ‘Kupang City DPD’,” said Jokowi.
Furthermore, he requested that officials build rapport with community leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and local figures so that PSI’s presence becomes more widely known. According to Jokowi, the public’s recognition of PSI currently stands at 78 per cent, while recognition of the PSI elephant logo is only at 48 per cent.
