Jokowi Predicts AI Revolution Will Occur Within 5-15 Years, Nations Must Prepare

Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) addressed artificial intelligence sovereignty at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026 in New Delhi, India, predicting a major AI-driven revolution within the next 15 years.

Jokowi attended the event on Friday, 20 February 2026. He emphasized that nearly all human activities will become intertwined with this technology in the near future.

“In my estimation, within 5 to 15 years ahead, there will be a major artificial intelligence revolution. All human activities will become inseparable from what we call artificial intelligence. AI will be everywhere,” Jokowi stated at his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari.

He continued: “So all nations must prepare, and we must also prepare our digital infrastructure, our human resources must be readied, and our regulations must be established.”

Jokowi stressed that preparedness is essential because there will be a significant shift in the economy towards the digital realm. “We must truly be ready because there will be a transition from what was previously a normal economy to a digital economy, moving into an AI economy or intelligent economy,” he said.

At the Bloomberg forum in India, Jokowi noted that nearly all participating nations discussed AI sovereignty. He also highlighted the critical importance of data sovereignty, which he described as absolutely essential for all countries to maintain.
