Jokowi performs Eid al-Adha prayer at Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Solo

Former President Joko Widodo performed Eid al-Adha prayers for 1447 Hijriah at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Jokowi attended with his wife, Iriana Joko Widodo, and several family members.

Among the family entourage were former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Anwar Usman, Jokowi’s brother-in-law, and his wife Idayati, along with Jokowi’s other siblings.

Jokowi and Iriana arrived at the mosque complex at approximately 5:47 AM WIB by car. He wore a cream-coloured koko shirt, brown woven sarung, and a black peci cap, while Iriana was already dressed in a mukena upon exiting the vehicle.

Upon arrival, Jokowi and Anwar Usman proceeded to the mosque’s porch before entering the male prayer area. Behind them, Iriana and other female family members headed to the women’s prayer section.

Jokowi’s presence at Sheikh Zayed Mosque drew attention from the crowd that had gathered since early morning, with several residents greeting and photographing the former president using mobile phones.

The Eid al-Adha prayer commenced at 6:30 AM WIB, with KH Ibrahim Asfari serving as imam and Munajat, Director of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, as the khatib.

This year’s Eid celebration saw the mosque prepare 71 sacrificial animals, comprising 54 cows and 17 goats. One cow was donated by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The handover of the sacrificial animals is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, with the slaughtering set for Thursday and Friday, 28-29 May 2026.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Solo Director Munajat stated that the mosque organised a series of events titled the Hajj Month Festival to commemorate Eid al-Adha 2026, with the main event on 30 May 2026.

‘The festival includes various activities such as the Eid al-Adha Festival, Zayed Mantu, and the Solo Smart Waste management festival, among others,’ Munajat said.
