Jokowi on JK's Request: The Accusers Should Be the Ones to Prove It
Former President Joko Widodo has responded to the request from former Vice President Jusuf Kalla to show his original diploma to end the polemic. Jokowi believes that this should be done by the party accusing him.
Jokowi stated that in legal processes, the logic of proof cannot be reversed. According to him, it is the accuser who should provide the proof.
“The accusers should be the ones to prove it. It’s not me who is asked to show it. Otherwise, anyone could accuse and then demand the accused to show proof; that’s backwards,” said Jokowi when met by journalists at his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari Subdistrict, Solo, on Friday, 10 April 2026.
Regarding the mention of a major figure behind the diploma issue that was previously raised, Jokowi said he does not want to speculate.
“I do not want to speculate on names, because that requires evidence and legal facts. It’s the same; leave everything to the existing legal processes,” he stated.
Previously, Jusuf Kalla responded to the issue of Jokowi’s fake diploma. The man familiarly known as JK considered the accusation of Joko Widodo’s fake diploma to be a simple matter. This could be quickly resolved by Jokowi showing his original diploma to the public.
“I am sure Mr Jokowi has an original diploma. Let’s stop this matter by Mr Jokowi simply showing his original diploma,” said JK at the Bareskrim Polri Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
The fake diploma issue involving Jokowi has recently implicated JK. He reported Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar for defamation over claims that he gave Rp 5 billion to Roy Suryo and associates related to attacks on Jokowi’s diploma. However, Rismon’s lawyer, Jahmada Girsang, denied that his client made such statements as contested by JK.
Regarding Jusuf Kalla’s step to report Rismon to Bareskrim, Jokowi considered it good because resolution through legal channels is the proper mechanism to address such polemics.
“I do not want to speculate; leave everything to the existing legal processes,” he said.
Rismon Sianipar and Roy Suryo have been named as suspects by Polda Metro Jaya for defamation and spreading false news regarding Jokowi’s diploma.
