Jokowi Kicks Off Political Safari in Lampung, Eyes Big Targets for 2029 Election

Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has begun his political safari to various regions, choosing Lampung as his first destination. Over the next three days, Jokowi is scheduled to participate in a series of events with volunteers and the Indonesia Solidarity Party (PSI). Before departing from Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo on Friday, 26 June 2026, Jokowi was seen wearing a shirt and cap bearing the PSI logo. Jokowi stated that all agendas during his stay in Lampung had been arranged with the involvement of volunteers and PSI officials. ‘The event rundown has been prepared, both from the volunteers and PSI, everything is packed,’ he said. During the visit, Jokowi said he would provide training and motivation to the PSI cadres. He believes that strengthening the party’s structure must be completed immediately to face the political contestation in the 2029 General Election. ‘For PSI, I want to provide motivation and also convey important messages about the need for PSI’s structure to be completed soon, so it becomes a large political machine,’ he explained. In addition to encouraging internal party consolidation, Jokowi considers increasing public political awareness to be an important agenda that must be built. ‘Then also raising the public’s political awareness, that is also important,’ he said. When asked about the PSI attributes he was wearing, Jokowi said the shirt and cap were sent by PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep. ‘Yes, they were sent by Chairman Kaesang, so I wore them,’ Jokowi concluded.
