Seventh President of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended a cultural parade organized by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in Tegal Regency, Central Java, on Sunday (15/2).

At the event, Jokowi, wearing a white shirt, white cap, and black trousers, mingled with the public. He was also accompanied by PSI Deputy General Chairman Isyana Bagoes Oka. The former Jakarta Governor simply laughed when watching PSI General Chairman Kaesang Pangarep open the event.

On the same occasion, Kaesang said the cultural parade was part of the party’s socialization efforts with the public through a local traditions approach. Kaesang emphasized that PSI’s political activities are never detached from the cultural roots of the local community. For this reason, they chose the cultural parade concept so that the party introduction process would respect, preserve, and celebrate the cultural values alive among the people.

“We want to be present in a way that is enjoyable, open, and upholds local wisdom. Politics must move hand in hand with culture, not leave it behind,” Kaesang explained, as quoted by detikJateng.

The cultural parade is also expected to have a direct economic impact on the community. MSMEs and local artists were involved in the event, so that promotional space, appreciation, and economic circulation could be directly felt by residents.

PSI believes regional progress will strengthen when politics, culture, social solidarity, and the empowerment of MSMEs and artists can move together.

According to Kaesang, PSI had previously visited the evacuation site for the land movement disaster in Tegal Regency to distribute basic necessities to affected victims.

“In addition to today’s cultural parade held by PSI, the PSI Central Board also went directly to deliver disaster relief for the land movement yesterday,” Kaesang explained.
